GolfBoard Teaming Up With Short Par 4 Fall Classic

After a successful second year of the GolfBoard at the 2019 PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur, golfers were scrambling for the opportunity to ’Surf the Earth.’  For a second straight year this November, they’ll be teaming up with the Short Par 4 Fall Classic to offer randomly selected participants the chance to ride.

The first patented all-wheel drive personal transport vehicle for golf, GolfBoards took the game by storm when they were named Best New Product for Golf at the 2014 PGA Show. And since a GolfBoard has 25% of the footprint of a golf cart, it allows golfers to take a direct path to their ball around greens which helps to speed up play.

As part of the partnership, GolfBoards will be at a different host course each day, providing a number of lucky participants the opportunity to add an extra form of excitement during their tournament round.

Don’t let the allusion to surfing scare you off. A GolfBoard is very stable and extremely easy to operate. The base of the board is wide which provides excellent stability, and learning to steer, which you are able to do with minimal effort, is easy. By the time you enjoy a little pre-round training, navigating a GolfBoard around the course quickly becomes second nature.

After another successful Team GolfBoard program at the World Am and the tournament scoring complied and compared:

  • The net score from a GolfBoard (76.4) was two strokes better than tournament scores posted from a golf cart (78.6) on the same course on the same day.
  • 24% of the total tournament rounds played on a GolfBoard were par or better.
  • 29% of contestants posted their best tournament score while riding a GolfBoard.
  • Another 21% posted their 2nd best score of the tournament while riding.

Chuck Brown, the GolfBoard South Carolina Rep, believes “GolfBoards are the perfect transport for tournament play by giving the player the independence to ride directly to his own ball, at his own pace, with his own thoughts, focus, and attitude. And for some players, the opportunity to remain standing between shots and not constantly having to get in and out of a golf cart, can reduce muscle stiffness and aches and pains to the back and knees.”

The golf industry hasn’t offered many “fun” innovations recently, but the GolfBoard will increase your enjoyment of the game; and for those of you wondering, yes, a GolfBoard comes complete with a drink holder.

So, how can you win a chance to use a GolfBoard during the Fall Classic? Click here to watch their video waiver and instruction video. At the end, you’ll be eligible to be selected to ride!

Not selected? Have no fear. GolfBoards are a large part of the Myrtle Beach market as True Blue, TPC Myrtle Beach and World Tour Golf Links have them available full time and you can request them during a practice round while here for the tournament.

Golf adopts change slowly, sometimes grudgingly, but GolfBoards are here to stay. Simply put, they are a “Faster, Fitter and Funner” way to get around a golf course.

The Inaugural Fall Classic Concludes

The final putt has dropped at the inaugural Myrtle Beach Fall Classic, and the tournament was, by all accounts, a rousing success. A 72-hole, two-man team event, the Fall Classic was played on fall classic couple at banqueteight of Myrtle Beach’s best golf courses.

Players were placed into one of four flights based on their USGA handicap and a different format of play was used each day. The tournament attracted players from 28 states and Canada, and the flight winners reflected the event’s geographic diversity.

Geoff and Andrew Richards, a father-son team from Alpharetta, Ga., won the Masters Flight, while Richard Dutcher from Charlotte, N.C., and Robert Mieczkowski of Laurance Harbor, N.J., teamed up to win the U.S. Open Flight.

North Myrtle Beach’s Darin Epps and Otto Susec of Chandler, Az., captured the Open Championship Flight, and the husband-wife team of Gerald and Leisa McCredie of Howie in the Hills, Fl., won the PGA Championship Flight.

“My experience was phenomenal,” Earnest Mack of Hanover, Md., said. “I would do this again in a heartbeat. I really liked the format, the people and the camaraderie.”

The Fall Classic was played at Caledonia, True Blue, Grande Dunes, King’s North, the Fazio and Norman courses at Barefoot Resort, TPC Myrtle Beach and Prestwick.

“Beautiful courses,” said Mark Posten, Laplata, Md. “Every course was top notch and in great shape; everybody at the courses were nice. I can’t brag enough about the four courses we played.”

instagram shot kings northIn addition to golf, players received a gift bag, a Sunday evening welcome party, and a post-tournament banquet (see photo gallery) that included a plated dinner and open bar.

The tournament formats were, in order, best ball, Texas scramble, combined net team score and a scramble.

The Fall Classic was the first of two new events Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is debuting in the coming months. The inaugural Preseason Season Classic, a 54-hole, two-man team event, will be played February 2-4. The Preseason Classic will feature another strong golf course lineup – True Blue, Glen Dornoch, Panther’s Run, Tradition Club, Wild Wing Avocet and The Witch – and great value at just $195 per person.

The 2014 Myrtle Beach Fall Classic is Sold Out!

The Myrtle Beach Fall Classic is sold out.

The Myrtle Beach Fall Classic is sold out.

The first Myrtle Beach Fall Classic is still nearly two months away, but the event is already sold out.

We framed the 72-hole tournament around playing some the best golf courses not only in Myrtle Beach but all of America, and the interest has been overwhelming. We are going to use eight courses – 2 per day – which means there is room for 100 teams and a total of 200 players.

Our golf course lineup – Caledonia, True Blue, Prestwick, Grande Dunes, Barefoot Fazio and Norman, Grande Dunes and TPC Myrtle Beach –  was obviously a big draw, as was the cost of playing in the event: $325.

While the event is sold out, we do have a waiting list, so if you are still interested in playing, put your name on the list here https://myrtlebeachfallclassic.com/register-now.

It is expected that the 2015 Myrtle Beach Fall Classic will feature an expanded field and even more great Myrtle Beach golf courses!

Links Magazine Ranks Pawleys Island Among Golf’s Best Islands

Caledonia, a host of the Myrtle Beach Fall Classic, is one of America’s Top 100 public courses.

Links Magazine has ranked Pawleys Island as the world’s 10th best golf island, and two of the Myrtle Beach Fall Classic’s host courses, Caledonia and True Blue, were cited as primary reasons.

The magazine said of Pawleys Island, “How can you not go with an island alongside Myrtle Beach, especially when two of the 10 courses are Caledonia and True Blue.”

The acknowledgement added to what has been a banner year for the two Mike Strantz designs. Golf Magazine ranked both layouts among its Top 100 You Can Play, a biennial ranking of America’s best public courses.

Caledonia was No. 27 on the prestigious Golf Magazine list and True Blue was 77th. Both should make wonderful hosts for our first Fall Classic.

Incredible Course Lineup is Complete!

Everyone knows that Myrtle Beach, SC is loaded with fantastic golf courses with something for everyone, regardless of design Caledonia treeHRpreference or budget. With over 100 courses laid out on the 60 mile Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach has attracted golfers for buddy trips, family vacations and world class tournaments for decades. However, with all of the courses available, a handful have been celebrated and acclaimed as much as any others in the area, and they are hosting rounds in the first annual Myrtle Beach Fall Classic!

Host Courses:

  • Barefoot Resort – Fazio
  • Barefoot Resort – Norman
  • Caledonia Golf and Fish Clubtpc1
  • Grande Dunes Resort Club
  • Myrtle Beach National – King’s North
  • Prestwick Country Club
  • TPC Myrtle Beach
  • True Blue Golf Plantation

Grande Dunes Resort Club, Caledonia Golf and Fish Club and TPC Myrtle Beach are each currently ranked in the Golf Digest Top 100 Public Courses list. True Blue Golf Plantation, Barefoot Fazio and King’s North have all been on that list recently as well. “To have these eight courses in the rotation for the first year of the event is huge,” said Jeff Monday, Tournament Director for Myrtle Beach Golf prestwick4Holiday. “The experience at each of these courses will be spectacular for our players. There isn’t a course on the list that you wouldn’t love to play if you were putting together a trip to Myrtle Beach. Prestwick Country Club is one of my favorite courses to play anywhere. This rotation is truly second to none.”

Although golf isn’t the only thing going on during the week (with a welcome reception, awards banquet and “Hockey Night” that will surely be a hit), it will undoubtedly be a highlight as each participant will play on four of the best courses Myrtle Beach has to offer.

The Newest Event in Myrtle Beach Golf!

Myrtle Beach Fall Classic FINAL Outlined 72dpiMarketing co-op Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is starting a brand new event on the Grand Strand this November. From the same staff that runs the Myrtle Beach World Amateur, the Veterans Golf Classic and the Palmetto High School Golf Championships, comes an event carved out for anyone looking to get away from the cold or just play some great Myrtle Beach golf with a partner! The Myrtle Beach Fall Classic will be a two-person team competition with four tournament rounds, each with a different format. Tournament rounds will be played November 17-20, 2014 on some of the best layouts that Myrtle Beach has to offer.

In addition to the great golf, participants will be treated to a Sunday registration party with open bar and hor ‘d oeuvres while picking up their credentials and gift bag. To close out the week, participants will gather for an awards banquet with open bar, plated dinner, awards, random drawing prizes and parting words.

“Our two-person team Veterans Golf Classic is a huge hit in May, so we wanted to duplicate the idea later in the year to catch the end of people’s golf season,” said Jeff Monday, Tournament Director for Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “We felt it was time that an event was put together catering to golf-loving individuals at a time when they can’t play golf at home due to the weather. The third week of November is historically a very mild time for us here, and we think  it will be a great combination of competition and camaraderie for our participants.”
